Spring Racing

The second Tuesday of November marks a day of fabulous outfits, statement fascinators, spray tans by the thousands and lets not forgot an abundance of champagne! Oh... and apparently a horse race somewhere in there too! Kick start this spring racing season with some of Little Red Dress' favourite picks.

We will look after you this Melbourne Cup with the accessories, dress, clutch and heels... all you need to worry about is the hat and the tipping!

So whether you are lucky enough to be heading down to Melbourne, or having your own event at home, be sure to stand out from the crowd and even stop the race in its tracks!

Your guide to a DREAMDROBE!

I think my obsession with bedroom merchandising first started because of Sex and the City. Carrie Bradshore may have only been a modestly payed Journalist in New York City, but boy did the gal know how to create an enviable wardrobe...

Whilst our magazines are splashed with the incredible, over-the-top and goodness knows how valuable wardrobes of the rich and famous...

This luxurious living isn't just limited to the Rachel Zoes or Paris Hiltons of our generation!

This week, we let you in on a few industry secrets which will get you well on your way to the ultimate DREAMDROBE!

The Coat Hanger:

The coat hanger can change the entire feel of your wardrobe. Whether you decide to invest in beautiful wooden ones (my suggestions is to buy a pack a paycheque!) or simply opt to match colours or styles, you are sure to see an incredible difference. Having a coat hanger system will not only assist with general space saving but will also ensure your clothes hang at the same height and width apart.  beyond aesthetics, investing in some good hangers will actually do your clothing a world of good as it will hold the garment's correct shape. It's also hard to deny that making your wardrobe look like your favourite boutique (little red dress love their black and white woodens!) is a lot of fun!

Colour Clash:

It may seem a little OCD but colour blocking your wardrobe actually has many benefits! It shows you what colours you are most drawn or suited to (if there is an absence of colour in your wardrobe, this is the best way to find out!) but colour coordinating is also a fantastic way to see new ways to wear things and reveal new outfits you didn't think of putting together until now. Remember- this summer the 'colour clash' is back in full force!

Mirror Mirror on the Wall:

On a grand scale, the mirror can create a sense of depth and spaciousness to a room. If you find that you are battling with a case of 'tiny cramped wardrobe', consider investing in mirrored doors or a full length mirror to place beside it. If you are lucky enough to have a walk-in, situating an ornate or decretive mirror will give the wardrobe a sense of luxury and enhance that real 'boutique' feel. I personally love the idea of a fold out mirror so you can check yourself at every angel and get that authentic 'fitting room' experience!

Say NO to Clutter:

We might not all have the extreme wardrobes like the ones above, but we certainly can take inspiration from them. What makes a beautiful and well organised wardrobe is thought out placement and anti- clutter! Shelving or storage organising systems (I could spend millions at IKEA) is your first step to eliminating clutter. Also identifying what items are best hung or folded. Do yourself a favour and store away any big bulky winter items that aren't going to see the light of day this summer, this will give you a little more room to play with!

The Mannequin:

I think the manni is the ultimate bedroom accessory! Practically, it is fabulous for displaying jewellery and accessories and stopping the tangly, bulky mess they can create in an open plan draw or shelf. There are also some beautifully designed mannequins out there with a range of fabrics, designs and price points. HOT TIP: Check out antique or vintage furniture stores and consider re-upholstering your find with a fabric to match your bedroom. It could be a fun little do-it-yourself holiday job and once completed, really will bring out your inner stylist.

And finally... Add Your Personality:

Your wardrobe should act like your own personal little store where your personality meets your inspirations. If your working with a simple cupboard try adding pictures of your favourite celebrities, fashion icons and labels. Add in a collection of beautiful gift boxes or striking shoe boxes. If you have the room, utilise your favourite boutique's shopping bags as a place to keep your little things like socks or swimwear!

Not everyone has the wardrobe of a film star, the shoe collection of a supermodel or the jewellery of a princess, but by using a few of the secrets leaked above, you too can channel luxury in your own home and give your clothes the special home they deserve.

Now to you... go have fun with it! Love always...

Backstage Pass

After last weeks Fabulous Summer Campaign went so smoothly, and the end result was as fresh, fun and fabulous as we wanted it to be, it got us Little Red Dress girls all a little inspired by the roles of fashion production. After in house styling the gorgeous looks and getting to play with all the awesome jewels and sunglasses (not to mention the beautiful garments) its a wonder how I resisted fleeing the country with all of the featured goodies in toe! Despite a few amateur components (such as the stunning charlotte changing between looks in the back of my car!) We believe the end result is crisp, professional, polished and beautifully captures the essence of Little Red Dress for the coming summer season.

Check out the behind the scenes footage from the shoot and indulge in some of our favourite backstage fashion imagery providing us with a our fashion inspirations for this week! We like to think we are on par with some of those fashion greats :)
